The NCoDE Data Engine receives data from multiple marine protocols (NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183, Modbus, J1939, RS485, GPS, G-Sensor, RTSP and environmental sensors, plus Z-Wave as a licensed option), normalises it through a unified processing layer, and exposes it via alerts, triggers, and cloud gateway for real-time access across all NCoDE applications.

Integrates with NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183, Modbus, J1939, RS485 and proprietary marine systems to capture engine, navigation, tank, and sensor data, normalising everything into a unified data model built on Signal K, the open marine data standard, so the vessel’s data is not locked inside a proprietary format. Nearby vessel traffic is collected over AIS, and the AIS receiver’s own status is monitored so a silent receiver is noticed. NMEA 2000 digital switching systems — CZone and EmpirBus — are monitored over the same bus, so the state of the vessel’s digitally switched circuits sits alongside everything else rather than only on the switching panel. NCoDE reads their state; it does not operate circuits. Z-Wave cabin and environmental sensors are available as a licensed option with the add-on board, and Ajax fire and life safety integration is available as a licensed option.
Detects anomalies, triggers smart alerts, and supports automated workflows for immediate response. Configurable thresholds and event rules for every data type. A built-in motion sensor tracks roll and pitch, records heavy slams as events and measures vibration on each axis, and a geofence raises an alert when the vessel moves outside a set area — an anchor dragging, or movement nobody authorised.

The Engine is not only a data collector. It records the vessel’s cameras, puts live video and vessel status on the displays already fitted at the helm, and keeps a complete record when the link to shore drops.
Cameras record continuously to a drive on the vessel, so the Engine takes the place of a separate NVR rather than sitting next to one. Live view and playback run on the Garmin plotters at the helm and on phones and tablets, with camera control, zoom and saved views.
When an alarm fires, the recording around that moment is protected from being overwritten and one tap opens the footage from when it happened — so the evidence still exists days later, instead of having been recorded over. Crew can mark a moment by hand to keep it the same way.
Through Garmin OneHelm, the cameras, the router and the vessel’s audio each appear as their own tile on the plotters, so the crew works from the screens already on the bridge rather than another one. Router and Starlink connection status, signal and data use are visible there too. Chart and instrument displays run on any other screen aboard.
Vessel data is buffered on board when the connection drops and sent once the link returns, so shore sees a continuous record rather than a gap. The built-in 4G modem takes over when shore or satellite internet fails, and video is deliberately kept off the SIM so cameras cannot spend the data budget. Engineers reach the box over an encrypted private network, with no inbound ports opened on the vessel.
